Future Plans...

What's ahead for phpBible.org

With the creation of KJBible.org and then MyOpenBible.org, we realize phpBible.org was outdated, and not all that appropriately named. We forwarded it to KJBible.org for a while, but it turns out people had been using it as their online Bible. So we re-activated it.

With phpBible.org I offered a downloadable package to install on a web server, providing a searcheable study Bible, but it proved too complicated for most. So I created phpAV.com. It utilized a similar setup to Google Coop. With just a few lines of code a site owner could install a Bible search on his or her site, that remained on their site, instead of taking visiters off to another site. However it still didn't satisfy the need for in-house Bible functions. Through the years we received several requests for our database, which is included with the phpBible installation package, but coded somewhat awkwardly (It was a learning process) What became obvious was the need for readily available, thoroughly formatted, Bible data. XML seems to be the current web developers' favorite and while there are XML Bibles available, none offer the details available with most Bible sites: italics, strong's keying, words in red, paragraphs, poetry, etc.

So what I have planned, when I can get to it, is to offer a variety of XML files, which will include the various formatting, so web developers can then import them into their own databases.

Then I plan to offer coding examples for people not as familiar with web development, but willing to learn, so they can build their own searcheable Bible site.

And finally, widgets that will allow access to Bible functions available at this site. I am currently using the function provided at AV1611.com to provide javascript popups for verse references at my site NavesTopicalBible.org. I want to create my own service for doing that, and provide it for free. And as time goes on, develop other similar services.
